How Does Palworld Breeding Work?

Breeding in Palworld is the single most powerful progression system in the game. By combining two parent Pals in a Breeding Farm, you can produce entirely new offspring with inherited passive skills, unique stat distributions, and access to creatures that are otherwise unobtainable in the wild. Our Palworld breeding calculator uses the exact breed power formula the game runs under the hood, giving you instant, frame-perfect predictions.

The Breed Power Formula Explained

Every Pal in the game has a hidden integer called Breed Power. When two Pals are placed together, the game averages their breed power values and then finds the Pal whose own breed power is closest to that average.

For example, if Parent A has a breed power of 1400 and Parent B has 900, the average is 1150. The offspring will be whichever Pal has a breed power nearest to 1150. Lower breed power values indicate rarer, more powerful Pals—Legendary creatures like Jetragon (90) and Shadowbeak (60) sit at the extreme bottom of the scale.

Special Breeding Combinations

Certain parent pairs bypass the standard breed power formula entirely. These are called special combinations, and they always produce a predetermined, unique result. For example, Relaxaurus + Sparkit will always produce Relaxaurus Lux, regardless of their breed power math.

  • Our calculator checks the full database of special combos first, before falling back to the standard formula.
  • Special combinations are the only way to obtain certain variant Pals—making them critical for completing your Paldeck.
  • The order of parents does not matter. Relaxaurus + Sparkit and Sparkit + Relaxaurus produce the same result.

Breeding Strategy & Passive Skill Inheritance

Beyond species determination, breeding is the primary way to stack powerful passive skills. When an offspring is born, it can inherit up to 4 passive skills from either parent. Top-tier skills like Legend (+20% ATK & DEF), Ferocious (+20% ATK), and Musclehead (+30% ATK, -50% Work Speed) are what separate a casual Pal from a boss-melting powerhouse.

The most efficient breeding strategy is a multi-generational chain: breed two Pals with desired skills, then breed the offspring with another Pal that has additional target skills. Repeat until you have a Pal with all four optimal passives.

Breeding Farm Setup Tips

Always Stock Cake

Pals require Cake in the Breeding Farm's feed box to breed. Each breeding session consumes one Cake. Set up a dedicated Cake production line before starting your breeding project.

Gender Requirements

You need one male (♂) and one female (♀) Pal. The offspring species is identical regardless of which gender holds which role—only the breed power math determines the result.

Egg Incubation

After breeding, an Egg appears in the farm. Transfer it to an Egg Incubator. Different Eggs require different temperatures—match the environment to the Pal's element for faster hatching.

Target Low Breed Power

Lower breed power = rarer Pal. To reach Legendary Pals (breed power 60-120), you need to breed two already-powerful Pals whose average lands near those extreme low values.

Frequently Asked Questions

It uses the official breed power formula. Each Pal has a hidden breed power value. The calculator averages both parents' values and finds the Pal closest to that average. Special combinations are checked first and override the formula when applicable.
Certain specific parent pairs always produce a predetermined result regardless of breed power. For example, Relaxaurus + Sparkit always produces Relaxaurus Lux. These are the only way to obtain certain variant Pals.
No. Breeding Lamball + Foxparks gives the same result as Foxparks + Lamball. However, you do need one male and one female Pal in the Breeding Farm.
Legendary Pals like Jetragon (breed power 90), Shadowbeak (60), and Frostallion (120) have very low breed power values. You typically need to breed two high-tier Pals together so their average lands near those extremely low numbers.
Breed power is a hidden numerical stat assigned to every Pal, ranging from roughly 60 to 1500. Lower values indicate rarer and more powerful Pals. The breeding system uses these values to determine offspring, making it the single most important number in Palworld breeding.
