Building the Perfect Pokémon Team

A winning Pokémon team is more than just your six strongest creatures. True competitive excellence requires strategic type coverage, balanced stat distributions, and an understanding of your team's collective defensive profile.

Type Coverage is Everything

The 18-type system in Pokémon creates a complex web of advantages and disadvantages. Our Team Builder instantly visualizes which types your team can hit super-effectively and, more importantly, which types represent coverage gaps.

A common beginner mistake is loading a team with Pokémon of the same type. Our tool flags these redundancies so you can diversify strategically.

Defensive Synergy

Beyond offensive coverage, a great team minimizes shared weaknesses. If three of your six Pokémon are weak to Ground, a single Earthquake could devastate your strategy. Our analyzer counts how many team members are vulnerable to each type.

This insight allows you to swap out Pokémon that create defensive redundancy and replace them with creatures that shore up your team's vulnerabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

The tool checks every attacking type against the types of each Pokémon on your team. It counts how many team members are weak or resistant to each type, then flags types that multiple team members share a weakness to.
A coverage gap is an opposing type that none of your team's Pokémon can hit super-effectively. For example, if no one on your team has a move type that is super-effective against Steel, that is a coverage gap.
A standard competitive Pokémon team has 6 members. The tool supports up to 6 slots. However, even analyzing 2-3 Pokémon can reveal critical synergies and weaknesses.
Currently, the analysis is based purely on typing. Abilities like Levitate or moves with secondary types are not factored in. This gives you a foundational understanding of type matchups.
