Business Days Calculator

A business days calculator takes a start date and an end date, calculates the total days, and automatically subtracts all Saturdays and Sundays to give you the exact number of working days between the two dates.

Why It Is Useful

Estimate professional timelines using actual working days instead of raw calendar days.

Skip weekends automatically to avoid manual counting mistakes on a calendar.

Use it for PTO tracking, shipping windows, contract deadlines, and payroll.

Calendar Days vs. Business Days

When estimating professional timelines, using standard calendar days can lead to missed deadlines and overpromised deliverables. A "business day" typically refers to any official working day, Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays.

While humans easily grasp the concept of a weekend, manual counting on a calendar is slow and prone to error—especially for timelines spanning several months. Our calculator instantly processes your date range, identifies every Saturday and Sunday, and deducts them from your total timeline to reveal your actual working capacity.

Accounting for Public and Federal Holidays

This calculator automatically removes standard weekends. However, when calculating legal deadlines or shipping windows, you must also account for public holidays.

Because holidays vary by country, state, and corporate policy, they are not automatically removed. To get a perfectly accurate working day count, follow this rule: Subtract one business day from your final result for every public holiday that falls on a weekday within your date range.

Common US Federal Holidays to look out for:

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
